So after being proactive and updating my phone early to Samsung's latest OneUI patch, I was rewarded with my screen becoming unresponsive. Mind you, the phone is still completely functional, it connects to Wi-Fi and has background processes active. However, the screen will not react to my touches. I am stuck on my lock screen, with no ability to interact with my phone, other than holding the side buttons. As a side note, I am not using a screen shield or anything that would obstruct my finger from my phone screen. It was working fine before the update. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, updating from OneUI 6.0 to 6.1.

I had talked to Samsung Care support, who was of little help in trying to troubleshoot the issue.

I have managed factory reset the phone through the android safe mode (the menu you get from turning the phone off and back on while holding the power and volume keys).

But now my phone sits on startup screen, still unresponsive as earlier. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

Quit with the rubbish responses. You have a major problem here with likely thousands people affected. If you don't have a fix issue us all with vouchers to collect a new phone or request shipping details to send us new ones! You fault! Your responsibility! Take action now! This has dragged on for too long!!!!!!

We need help for this issue not a stupid recipe on how to do for dummies. This issue is caused by  a buggy Samsung  firmware update and Samsung should take responsibility on how to provide a serious fix.

Having exactly the same problem.

So, how to do a factory reset without using the screen?

Having exactly the same issue. S21 ultra 5G, the latest update (6.1) installed, now my screen is completely unresponsive (was previously working perfectly). I can reset but I can't factory reset, not sure how to achieve this without being able to use the touch screen. I suppose I'll have to wait for the battery to die then plug it in and try the volume up / side button to get to the factory reset menu.... Anyone else had any success?

Exactly the same issue. S21 ultra 5G, the latest update (6.1) installed, now my screen is completely unresponsive (was previously working perfectly). I can reset but it's not helping at all. What should I do? Is samsung going to fix it free of charge? It was working fine before update.

SAMSUNG PLEASE HELP

I have the exact same issue with my S21 Ultra 128GB 5G after doing the 6.1 OneUI upgrade.

I DO NOT have a screen protector.

After the upgrade the phone boots up to the Swipe To Unlock screen but swiping does absolutely nothing.

My phone is now an expensive brick 😞

- Samsung what QA testing was done with this update? There are loads of us affected.

- How can I use my phone again?
