I'm sorry that this happened to you. I've seen some feedback regarding this issue, and it happens to other S series devices as well.

Some argue that a software update will not be the reason for green lines 99.99% of the time. It's almost always physical damage from drops or moisture.

Some also say that updates cause the phone to heat up. The heat breaks the joints to the display and ribbon connector cable, hence ending up with lines.

So replacing the entire screen is the only solution unless there are repair shops with laser ribbon connecting services (very limited).

I've had a few Samsung phones before I got the one I have now, and I've never experienced this kind of issue, not even once.

I think it would be better to let the device cool off before you proceed with the update if it really is the heat that causes the display issue, given that the device was not dropped or anything.

Up for this! I have a 6 yo S10 that I seldomly use and is in the shelf sa sala with no aircon, so temp is kinda diff inside the room where I am staying most of the time using my phone S22 base variant. And the S10 was the one who recently got a green line after a patch update. Note that I recently updated my S22 to the latest software fully charged. Kasi, most of us would plug it in a charger so that it wont drain the batt while updating which also contributes to its rising phone temp. Plus, also if you are also constantly holding your phone while updating, body temp also acts like a seal for the phone not to dissapate heat. Mas mainam na dun ka muna sa loob ng kwarto or better yet put your phone down while updating and place a fan. Not totally flat down but make it slanting so that the back plate can breathe as well. Also note that when the phone is trying to update, it uses max screen brightness, kaya din umiinit yung phone because of that. So, yep. Room temp and phone temp plays a key role for not getting that pesky green & pink lines
