Galaxy SSamsung updated devices to Android 13 at record speeds this year, but sadly we (Canadians) were almost last to get the update. Security updates have always been a month late this year. I am puzzled why samsung doesn't provide updates directly? Google/Apple release OTA updates directly to the users without any involvement of service providers in canada. So why samsung still goes via providers? Testing & approvals by service providers add delay's. (At least there should be an option for users to opt for direct updates ). Samsung community mods if you are reading this please bring this up to people responsible for updates, i am sure there will be hundreds if not thousands of users who would want this option.

Galaxy SIf apple/google can deliver updates without issues/bugs why can't samsung? Also, i am asking about an option to get direct updates.. if you don't want to get direct updates you could simply disable the option.

Galaxy SI know they come directly from samsung.. but after approvals from carriers, this adds several weeks of delays.

Galaxy SThe Carriers have nothing to do with the Security Patch Updates.
The agreement with Google, allows for it's "customer" OEMs 90 days from Google's release of it's security bulletin.

FYI, my S20 Ultra received the December Security Patch OTA last week.

Galaxy SLooks like there's a chance that you will receive the One UI V5.1 update February 22nd.
If that's the case, that's probably why you still have the December Security Patch.

Galaxy SBoth Fido & Telus seem to think so.
Telus thinks the 21st.
Fido thinks it is the 22nd
Rogers thinks that it is just the February Security Patch on the 22nd.
