Even after you Click on Open Google Messages?

You can try a couple of things:

Go to Settings > Apps & Search for Samsung Messages & Click on it > Scroll down to Storage & Clear Both Cache & Data for the app > Reboot.

You could also Boot into Recovery & Wipe Cache.

It's never happened on my S23 Ultra. 🤔

I take it that you prefer to use Google Messages?

If that's the case, go to Settings > Apps & Search for Samsung Messages & Click on it > Click on "Force Stop & then "Disable".

That *SHOULD* fix the issue, but it's weird, none the less.

Went back to settings, default apps. I cleared both apps, forced stop Samsung messaging. Now Google mess is opening on its own.

Thank you very much Red! Appreciate you:)

I was actually using Samsung messaging. I'm not fussy BUT then at the ir kept showing that I have 3 messages & there aren't any "sigh". So I figured.... and yeah.

Hi mzkurly,

That's strange! Please try the suggestions by RedDogRabbit to perform Clear cache and Clear data for the messages app.

If that doesn't work, please try Booting into Recovery by Wiping Cache partition and let us know if it worked for you.

1. Hold the Power button and Volume Down to open the power options where choose the Power off.

2. When the screen goes dark press the Volume Up and Power keys together.

3. Let go of all held buttons when you see the Recovery mode on the screen.

4. Then you should select Wipe cache partition. Use Volume Up to navigate and the Power button to accept it.

5. Choose Yes and press the Power key to confirm that operation.

6. After that select Reboot system now with the Power key.

Thank you.

Go in the settings, and type search DEFAULT APP and you go down until you see default messages app, you will be able to change the default app for your messages :)
