Get a US SIM, or Flash it Manually with Odin.

Thanks I got it for cheap in us.seems to be the only way. Didn't know that it's still region locked. Next time I would just go for p***l

Would just using a US sim from Amazon like t mobile without activating work? Then I could just keep using that sim for update?

Don't think that would work.. You could probably change the CSC to get the update from the US Carrier.

No. And my solution might not work for you. As @RedDogRabbit pointed out, a US sim will likely work in your case.
