Hi, I'm using an 8+ and my text notification sound isn't working, did you guys experienced the same problem? All sound levels are up. Settings for text notification is on. Other notifications are okay but only this one. Please help.

All of the screenshots show the default sound, which makes the first part of my suggestion moot. You mention that you have tried changing the sound, but just to be clear, I'm talking about changing the sound file, rather than anything to do with volume levels. It's a stretch to think that we're both miscommunicating that word AND that the solution lines therein. So. The next thing I would try is clearing the cache for the specific app. You could also try a third-party app, but technically, that's a work-around, and not a solution (even if it works). If clearing the cache doesn't work, perhaps you could try another app. I can personally recommend Textra, but don't feel bound by that. Try any one that catches your fancy.

Oh, VERY important. If you're not familiar with clearing an app's cache, be clear on the wording before pressing. Do NOT clear the app's data! I don't know your comfort level, so I wanted to make that distinction for you, just in case.

hey cnewell74, thanks for the suggestions. fyi, I've been changing the sound file and testing it one by one but to no avail, I just sent that screenshot showing the default at that time when I was thinking it might work if I went back to default. and yes, I know about clearing the cache, still nada. anyway, I'll check the third party app but then again, as you said, it's not the solution.

How to clear the cache? Go to Settings -> Apps. Press the 3-dot menu at the top right, and Show system apps. Now scroll down to Messages and tap it. When the app's info comes up, find and press Storage. This is where my warning came in. Select CLEAR CACHE, not the other option. Restart to be sure, even though this isn't likely necessary. I hope this fixes it for you.
