Transferring photos to laptop or USB

I recently returned from a holiday. I moved the photos I took using my samsung galaxy s8 into an album on my phone. When I access the photo gallery on my phone this album has 194 photos in it but when I connect the phone to my laptop or a USB and try to transfer the photos from my phone to my laptop or directly to a USB only 8 photos appear in this album. Why? Can anyone help me?

Where are the other 186 images stored on your phone?

confirm if they're stored in your phones memory or an SD card. the navigation to the different storage devices matter.

I assume the photos are stored in my phones memory. I have not inserted a separate memory card . See attachment.

So open an image, and select details. it will show you where they are stored

As @carr0498 ha suggested, choose a photo that is not showing up. Select details, and see where that image is stored.
