Galaxy ZHello Micelle,
We are sorry to hear about your experience with your beloved Samsung Galaxy Z Flip having issues with charging problem "charging stopped due to phone's temperature is too low". I feel and understand why you are frustrated for a device that you've take care so much and expect that it will perform better after a series of repair. If my device is facing similar experience, I will be frustrated too.
Samsung charging problems occur due to many reasons. Some are related to software and some related to hardware. In such cases, follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issues.
Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software are updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.
Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.
Step 2. Tap on Download and install.
Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
These are likely the causes as to why your device might not charge, and most can be fixed without any extra support. The most common reasons for a device failing to charge are:
- Faulty cable, charger, socket, or adapter
- Dirt or debris in the charging port
- Third-party apps interrupting the charging
- The software update is required
You may want to consider do the following check-up.
1) Check your charger.
The first step is to check to see if the problem is related to your charger or charging cable.
- Use an official charger
It is always recommended to use the charger that came in the box or an official Samsung replacement as these have been specially made for your device and are designed to maximize battery life. Check to make sure that you are not using counterfeit accessories.
- Check for damage
Check to ensure that there isn't any damage to the cable or plug. If you notice any damage, stop using the charger immediately.
- Try a new cable
Even if there is no obvious physical damage to the cable or the plug, try using a different cable and plug to eliminate this as the problem. To make sure that your cable/plug works, try charging a different phone to see if it works or not.
- Try a different power source
2) Clean the charging port
One of the most common causes of charging problems is if the charging port is clogged with dirt, dust, or debris. Dirt or lint can build up inside the charging port and prevent the charging cable from engaging properly with the charging contacts inside the port. This can stop your phone from charging properly or prevent it from charging at all.
Step 1. Power off your device.
Step 2. Shine a torch into the charging port and look inside. If you can see dust or dirt, especially if it is covering the metal charging contacts, the charging port needs cleaning.
Step 3. Try gently blowing into the charging port to remove dust and debris.
Step 4. If the charging port remains clogged, take it to a professional to be cleaned.
Note: Do not insert any object into the charging port. This can result in damage to the charging port.
3. Check for water and moisture.
Samsung phones will not charge if moisture is present in the charging port when it is plugged in. This is a preventative measure added to avoid corrosion. You will still be able to charge with a wireless charger. A popup message will display in the event a charger is plugged in while moisture is present in the charging port.
Most moisture will evaporate by itself within a few hours, but you can also try blowing gently on the port or exposing it to cool dry air. If the waterdrop icon has still not disappeared but you are sure the charging port is dry, try turning your device off and on again.
If the icon remains after this, clear the cache for USB:
Step 1. Go to Settings > tap Apps.
Step 2. Tap the More options (three vertical dots) icon > tap Show system apps.
Step 3. Scroll down, then tap USB Settings.
Step 4. Tap Storage > tap Clear data and Clear cache.
Warning: To avoid electric shock and damage to your phone, do not charge the phone while it is wet or in an area where it could get wet. Do not handle the phone, charger, or cords with wet hands while charging. Do not insert any object into the charging port. This can result in damage to the charging port.
4. Reboot your device.
To check if it is a software-related issue, if your device still has a charge remaining, try rebooting it.
Step 1. Turn the device off and wait 10 seconds.
Step 2. Plug in the charger provided with the device.
You could perform a soft reboot using the buttons. If your device does not have a Home button or a separate Power button, such as Note10, Fold, Z Flip, or higher, press the Volume up and Side buttons simultaneously. When your device vibrates and the Samsung logo appears, release the buttons to reboot the device.
You could also try performing a soft reboot. The key combinations differ slightly depending on the model of your device, but with most devices hold the Power and Volume Down keys.
