This is how the Android 11 will release soon.

When will your Samsung Phone get Android 11 Update?
The Stable Android 11 Update with One UI 3.0 expected to be released in October 2020

Samsung takes a bit of time before releasing their One UI after Google’s official Android launch. Even in the previous release, we saw a delay with the release of the stable version. Usually, it’s the end of the year when Samsung officially launches the next version but this time around things might just change. Unlike previous years, Google has launched its developer preview version of 11 much sooner than what they did with Android 10 or Android 9. So we can expect Samsung to follow on in this trend of Google and come up with a stable version of One UI 3.0 much sooner than usual.

The smartphone industry is very competitive right now and many OEMs are keen on being one of the first companies to launch their latest UI version. So looking at Google’s early launch, many OEMs will probably plan to work on their UIs as soon as possible. So if Samsung wants to maintain its place in the premium smartphone market, they will have to compete too. Now if all goes well and we have Android 11 sooner than usual, then Samsung will also launch One UI 3.0 one or two months earlier than last year. In the previous year, it took five weeks before the stable version of One UI 2.0 rolled out after the beta version. So as per calculations, we will have the beta launch somewhere around the month of September, and the official stable version launch in the month of October.

List of Samsung phones eligible for Android 11 update

Please note that the above unofficial list is prepared based on the company’s previous track record.

Samsung has a trend when it comes to rolling out updates on their devices. Firstly their top tier Note and S series devices will receive the update. Following them would be previous year’s flagship S and Note series devices. And then finally we will have the mid-range and upper mid-range series devices receiving the update.

Samsung will follow the same tradition this time around too and we will see the Android 11 based One UI 3.0 rolled out to the S20, S20+ and the S20 ultra devices. The Note devices for 2020 are not yet out there but they will run upcoming One UI 3.0 out of the box in future. And as soon as the S20 series receives the update, the upcoming Note device will also do so.

Following on will be 2019’s flagship S10 series devices and Note 10. Once they are updated, then Samsung will start pushing the Android 11 to the M series and A series devices that are eligible for the update. Unfortunately, this is the end of the line for the beloved Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 because they have already received two major Android updates(Android 9 and Android 10).

These Samsung devices may not receive the Android 11 update

  • Galaxy S9
  • Galaxy S9+
  • Galaxy Note 9
  • Galaxy J2 Core
  • Galaxy J2 Pro
  • Galaxy J3
  • Galaxy J4 Core
  • Galaxy J4, J4+
  • Galaxy J6, J6+
  • Galaxy J7 (2018)
  • Galaxy J7 Duo (2018)
  • Galaxy J7 Prime 2 (2018)
  • Galaxy J8 (2018)
  • Galaxy M10
  • Galaxy M10s
  • Galaxy M20
  • Galaxy M30
  • Galaxy A10
  • Galaxy A10e
  • Galaxy A10s
  • Galaxy A20
  • Galaxy A20e
  • Galaxy A6, A6+
  • Galaxy A60
  • Galaxy A6s
  • Galaxy A7
  • Galaxy A8 Star
  • Galaxy A8 & A8+
  • Galaxy A9
  • Galaxy Xcover 4s
  • Galaxy Xcover Field Pro
  • Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)
  • Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018)
  • Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018)
  • Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019)
  • Galaxy Tab Advanced 2 (2018)
  • Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 (2018)

Samsung devices only receive two major OS updates. That means, if your phone arrived with Android 9, Android 11 would be the last major platform update that it receives. So, all the devices running Android Oreo or Older OS are not eligible(technically) for android 11 update. However, some devices also receive a single major update only. So, based on this theory we have prepared the above unofficial list. Take this list with a pinch of salt.

Conclusion

As of now, nothing can be said about what Samsung is going to bring to the table with the One UI 3.0 as nothing much is even fixed about Android 11. Every feature out there in the preview release of Android 11 is uncertain, and we don’t even know which one of these will definitely make its way when Google officially launches Android 11. Once Android 11 features get clearer, we will have a better idea as to what Samsung will do this year from the software side for their smartphones.

Android 11 is still in beta at this point, it would take a while before Google releases it (probably this July or August), and Samsung making their One UI work on it.
