Confined in 2022?

 According to Bloomberg, it will take seven years to vaccinate the entire planet if the operation continues at the current rate.

Le vaccin, depuis le début, c’est ce qu’on nous présente comme le passeport pour l’après-COVID. On nous a confinés, gardés au pays, puis empêchés de fêter Noël avec cette seule promesse : une fois qu’on sera vaccinés, tout aura changé.

L’appréciation des citoyens quant aux mesures prises face à la pandémie varie selon leur sensibilité personnelle et leur degré de vulnérabilité sociale, économique et sanitaire. On peut être pour ou contre le couvre-feu de François Legault. On peut penser que Justin Trudeau a trop ou pas assez dépensé avec la PCU. Il y a une chose toutefois sur laquelle tout le monde s’entend : le vaccin, on le veut vite.

À la fin, Justin Trudeau sera jugé sur sa capacité à livrer le vaccin plus que n’importe quel autre dirigeant sur n’importe quel autre geste qu’il aura posé. Bref, si on est encore confiné l’hiver prochain, on saura qui blâmer.

That's a thing where Trudeau has little to no control over. He can't summon vaccines out of thin air. His government ordered vaccines, we will receive them. The only problem is when, and nobody in Canada has the power to control that, and suggesting otherwise is extremely foolish. Almost all the domestic actions he could take to lessen the spread would cause whining from local MPs.
Sadly, that's the (terrible and sensationalistic) rhetoric of JDM/JDQ: federal bad always forever. Local MPs are those that hold the true power to limit the spread, and they don't want to give that power to the federal government. There was such an outcry when Trudeau dared to suggest a minimum healthcare quality threshold countrywide for elderly people, all stemming from selfish PMs, caring more about insignificant details of competency fields than their agonizing people. However this matter doesn't belong on S Members

Ceci est un problème sur lequel Trudeau n'a que très peu d'influence. Il ne peut pas invoquer les vaccins à sa guise. Son gouvernement a commandé les vaccins et le Canada les recevra. Le problème réside dans le Quand, ce sur quoi personne au Canada n'a d'influence, surtout si ces produits proviennent d'autres pays aux tendances protectionnistes. Prétendre le contraire est ridicule, au mieux. Presque toutes les actions domestiques que le fédéral aurait pu entreprendre pour réduire la contagion auraient causé des jérémiades de la part des PM locaux.
Malheureusement, nous pouvons y reconnaître la rhétorique sensationnaliste de bas étage et peu objective du JDM/JDQ, selon laquelle le fédéral est et sera toujours le méchant, quoiqu'il fasse. Ce sont seuls les PM locaux qui peuvent agir concrètement contre la contagion, mais ils ne veulent pas se départir de ce pouvoir sous aucun prétexte. Prenons par exemple le cas où le fédéral a osé suggérer d'imposer un niveau minimum de décence dans les soins prodigués aux patients dans les établissements tels que les CHSLD. La réponse se résumait à des PM provinciaux égoïstes qui geignent à cause d'un problème accessoire, soit les champs de compétences, n'ayant aucun scrupules à laisser leur peuple à l'agonie entre-temps.
