OthersBy looking at the stats provided, it shows that Malaysia 5G speed is consider increase and looks good.
It shows that:
- Download speed is 16.8 times faster than 4G
- Upload speed is 6 times faster than 4G
Beside that, Malaysia 5G at the moment showing prominent in terms of gaming as well as video experience.
For more details you can refer to the link below:
To me, this is too early to judge because of:
- 5G coverage is not wide enough still.
- 5G devices are still lack behind (FYI, many phones are still not yet open to 5G yet especially Epal).
- Too little 5G user out there to test and this is why the speed are promising. Once open up to more user, I believe congestion is the main problem like what we have in some area with 4G.
Anyways, so far this is really a good step to move forward. Lol

OthersYes, we need to replace the SIM card. With the old SIM card, it only stated with LTE/3G/2G under mobile network settings. With the new SIM card, it will stated 5G/LTE/3G/2G (Auto Connect). You can even try out eSIM too (if your phone supported).
FYI, to get a new SIM card replacement, the Telco make our life easier now. We do not need to take number or queue from their counter anymore. There is a kiosk machine to do so (24 hours). What we need to do is, bring along our IC only. When you are at the kiosk machine, you just need to insert your IC to the machine and scan your thumb print will do. Within few minutes, you can get your SIM card on the spot (charges apply based on the Telco).
** Not every Telco outlet come with the kiosk machine, so please check it out first before you visit them.
** With 5G SIM card but without 5G phone, you will only get 4G network (LTE).
** 5G connectivity is really depend on location. So please check it out from the Telco website too.
