If it is possible to do it with VMware, then it is possible on the current hardware.  The image processing for the screens still has to be done on the phone even with VMware.  This means that the limitation is not the hardware, only the android/dex software.  Regardless if the processor was really the issue, they could still make it happen by simply downgrading the image resolution to 720.  There would be many happy users to take degreaded resolution as a trade for two extended external monitors.  For me personally, it would be close to a replacement for my PC, and with as many work spaces are coming setup with usb-c hubs and dual monitors, I could use my phone as my PC all over the place.

The Samsung tablet hardware is capable, the limitation is imposed by Samsung's version of Android.

@Losingthewires, please share how you were able to get mobile VMWare Horizon to span both monitors!?

Could the same thing be achieved with the vSphere mobile app, or maybe even RDP?

You can connect to the first external monitor via usb-c cable or usb-c-to-hdmi adapter (which will mirror your tablet screen content) and to a second external monitor wirelessly. Wirelessly means you add Miracast or Chromecast capabilities to the monitor, with a suitable dongle, or with a monitor that natively supports either streaming protocol. The wireless connection you initiate by activating Samsung Dex.

Note that if you have an app that needs as little lag as possible, you should mirror that one to the first monitor. The wireless connection always introduces lag, usually too much for playing games, for instance.
