Samsung Pay
When paying at stores my bank card works fine through my galaxy flip 4, but when I try to tap on at an Opal card reader it says "card not valid - 87". It is set to visa not eftpos, and the physical card works when tapping on. I tried using google wallet and had the same issue so. I was previously using the same card successfully on an iPhone. This is annoying. Any ideas?

This is an AI answer, I never trust AI even when helpful.
"If Samsung Pay isn't working with Opal, here are some things to check:

Card verification

If a transaction is declined, check if the card in the Samsung Pay app displays a "Verification Needed" message. If so, you'll need to request a one-time passcode to complete verification.

Card type

Samsung Pay supports eligible Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, and American Express credit and debit cards from most Australian banks.

Card separation

Keep your Opal card separate from other contactless cards and don't put them in the same wallet, purse, or phone case. If the Opal reader detects more than one card, it could charge you for multiple fares or not make a payment.

Samsung Pay Transit

On Samsung phones, the feature that allows you to tap on and off Opal readers without unlocking your device is called Samsung Pay Transit.

If the Opal reader displays a "Card Not Valid" message, there may be an issue with the card you're trying to use"

Because it often tells me interesting and generally useful info. It's just tells me sometimes highly relevant info but not the bit you actually want to know.

I haven't actually tried it without unlocking as it never worked for me.
Honestly, I just use an opal card it's easier see so many people talking their phones several times and having trouble annoying as hell standing waiting. Usually just open Samsung wallet if I have to use my phone

Get the opal app and enter your card details after that once it will be reverified you can use it again. Sometimes if the card doesn't have enough balance it gets blocked so we have to unblock it via Opal app.

Hi there Izzerbel!

I don't think that this is an issue with Samsung Pay - it could be that your card does not have the features to support contactless payments for transport. You'll need to contact your card issuer to resolve that one!

Hope that helps :)
