Either using email, or password to sign in, testing multiple wifi, and mobile hotspot (from s22U), after trying continuing, it loads for a few seconds, go back to main page, load some more, then gives 162 error:

Samsung Pass is temporarily not available. Try again larer. (162)

occasionally the galaxy app store likes to complain alot that it can't connect due to network failure.
it's rare, but it happens.

there is no network failure on my side, so I suspect it's something on the server side.

Yeah, I heard that too, but I tried periodically since I got the tab almost 2 weeks ago.

when things like this happen to me I keep pinging external hosts in the background. This tells me how stable connectivity is.

for example, pinging 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 9.9.9.9, google.ca, etc...

spikes in response times indicate instabilities or delays.... while these spikes are not common and are usually negligible, some apps might have low thresholds and will raise an alarm.

Im using the tab s8 wifi version. Closest I can get to data is through hotspot, and even that didnt work.
