I feel RCS Messaging should be Samsung phone to Samsung phone at this point, the messages app is more that capable of doing it. It shouldn't depend on the carriers anymore.
I agree with that, but alot of my friends have alot of different phones and would be nice with RCS to be able to tell if they read it and if there typing. I know it's going to be awhile before that happens, that's why I agree samsung to samsung would be a good starting point
So far of what i have researched samsung will use the same RCS system that google deployed on their messages app later on a update but also it will support carriers that will like have their own RCS system this was launched already on South Afirca Operator Vodacom as well on Germany Operator Vodafone
