I preordered my Samsung Galaxy Note10+ the day it became available, and received my shipment the day it launched. I've almost always had the Always On Display turned on, and I use the in-display fingerprint all the time. Recently, I began to notice that the icon is already burning into my screen, suggesting the algorithm designed to prevent that from happening either doesn't exist at all, or is very inefficient. With Android 10 I think Samsung should definitely take this into consideration since I've owned my previous phones for at least a year before showing signs of burn in, but this one hasn't even lasted 4 months.

Do you prefer to have the fingerprint icon there with always on display? It can be turned off now. I honestly dont use AOD anymore. I usually used it to show on double tap and realized it's kind if redundant that way with the lock screen showing most of the same info.
that's just my preference though. Once I got use to the location of the sensor, I wanted the icon gone for the fear of what you've described. It's nice to see they've made it easy to turn off for those that dont want to see it constantly
