I'm using the Galaxy Tab S8 + 5G, and after updating this morning, it would not respond to finger touches. I'm even typing this out with my S pen. This is so *** frustrating cuz I use this for college. And this is happening on a Monday when I have classes. Calling customer support was useless, I even let them control my device remotely, only to check my settings, make me restart—all of which I have already troubleshooted even before calling. They don't know ***. I didn't like updating, but I did this morning cuz it annoyed tf out of me when it keeps on popping up. I've read similar problems on the forums, that it happened after the update. What *** is this.

Updates do weird things to unsuspecting devices. I had an S22 Ultra that had issues with the radio after an update. It cycled through all the bands, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G over and over that it heats up all the time. I had fo use the phone in 2G mode all the time and wifi. The next update got it back go normal. Try going into developer settings and see if there are capacitive screen options. The pen uses a separate layer for input reception. The capacitive layer does the touch input. Or CS should've asked you to submit the diagmostic report that includes the capacitive layer that should be the first step after hearing your call.

We did do a diagnostic report, and apparently, nothing wrong, but I don't think that capacitive screen thing was included. I've been researching and found this whole thread of people who had the same problem. Samsung doesn't care to actually solve it. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S23/Update-6-1-made-touchscreen-unusable-without-S-Pen/td...

I will try to go to a nearby care center to see if it can be fixed, but I'm almost sure that they'll offer to change the screen and charge an amount bordering the full price of buying a new one.

When you're there have the techs do the screen capacitive test. This should be available remotely

Its the one where you touch the screen and the touch registers as colored blocks

That was completely out of the question. The screen isn't registering any finger touch at all. They didn't do that.

However, an update on this issue: fortunately, they were able to fix it. At first, they made the engineer look at it, and right off the bat, they said the solution is changing the screen altogether. But I was admant about getting a technical report to pinpoint the root cause of the issue. It was weird to me since this only happened after the system update. They didn't want to issue the report and insisted that it was upon request to Samsung. I said they could request, and I refused to just let them change the screen without letting me know how and why that happened. After that, they said they'll take a look again, and maybe they just needed to reinstall the software update. They were able to get it back and running again. Definitely don't take it lying down 🙄. If I didn't insist, they would be charging me thousands for a screen change when there were options before that.
