Samsung QLED Q80T 55" for old consoles / para video games antigos

I have a TV Q80T 55", model QN55Q80TAGXZD.

Although I've already had problems using Steam Link, especially when pairing bluetooth controllers that aren't for XBOX (I still need to use the control connected to the PC's bluetooth), I like the TV and it works very well with the Nintendo Switch.

The problem now is when it comes to connecting old video games, a Mega Drive 3 and a Playstation 2.

Neither worked when trying to connect via AV input. No image or sound is reproduced and the signal is lost. Exactly the same problem with both video games.

I also purchased a SCART to HDMI converter that upscales to 1080p, and a Mega Drive compatible SCART cable. Did not work on TV. But it worked on my 4K monitor that I use on my computer, which is also a Samsung model.

As the Mega Drive is older, I also connected the RF cable directly to the TV antenna input, and it was the only way to get a positive result.

Isn't the TV able to connect to these devices via AV input?

Why is it not working with SCART to HDMI converter?

I'm sure both video games are working normally.

I tried to send an email through Samsung's support but the form is horrible. It didn't have this TV model there to select from, and I'm not even sure the email was actually sent.

Apesar de já ter tido problemas em utilizar o Steam Link, principalmente na parte de parear controles bluetooth que não sejam do XBOX (até hoje preciso usar o controle conectado no bluetooth do PC), gosto da TV e ela funciona muito bem com o Nintendo Switch.

O problema agora é na hora de conectar vídeo games antigos, um Mega Drive 3 e um Playstation 2.

Nenhum dos dois funcionou ao tentar conectar pela entrada AV. Nenhuma imagem ou som é reproduzida e o sinal é perdido. Exatamente o mesmo problema com os dois video games.

Eu também comprei um conversor SCART para HDMI que faz upscaling para 1080p, e um cabo SCART compatível com o Mega Drive. Não funcionou na TV. Mas funcionou no meu monitor 4K que uso no computador, que também é da Samsung.

Como o Mega Drive é mais antigo, conectei também pelo cabo RF direto na entrada da antena da TV, e foi a única forma que obtive um resultado positivo.

A TV não é capaz de se conectar a estes dispositivos pela entrada AV?

Por que não está funcionando com o conversor SCART para HDMI?

Tenho certeza que ambos os vídeo games estão funcionando normalmente.

Tentei enviar e-mail pelo suporte da Samsung mas o formulário é horrível. Não tinha o modelo da TV lá para selecionar, e nem estou certo de que o e-mail foi enviado de fato.

Alright, got it working through the AV input. I was using an adapter which was not compatible with the TV. So I adjusted the AV input on the TV to PAL-M and it worked :)
However, there is no upscaling when in this mode, right? The image gets a little blurred, and if I use the 16:9 aspect ratio it also streches.

I would like so much to use the SCART/HDMI conversor which does upscaling. I can even get some result if I do the following steps:
* Configure the conversor to use 720p@60Hz resolution.
* Turn on the console using the conversor HDMI output connected to the TV.
* Wait until the signal is lots and select the help menu.
* Do the HDMI cable diagnosis until lowering the TV resolution option is prompted.
* Confirm the usage of the lower resolution.

With that done, it's possible to see a positive result for a few seconds, with a good image quality. But it doensn't take long before signal is lost again...

Will using an AV to HDMI converter result in a similar SCART converter?

Certo, consegui fazer funcionar pela entrada AV. Eu estava usando um adaptador que não era compatível com a TV. Ajustei a entrada AV na TV para PAL-M e funcionou :)
No entanto, não acontece o upscale nesse modo né? A imagem fica um pouco borrada, e se utilizar o aspect ratio 16:9 também fica esticada.

Gostaria muito de conseguir utilizar o conversor SCART/HDMI que faz upscaling... Eu até consigo algum resultado se fizer os seguintes passos:
* Configurar o conversor para utilizar resolução 720p@60Hz.
* Ligar o aparelho usando a saída HDMI do conversor conectado na TV.
* Esperar perder o sinal e entrar no menu de ajuda.
* Fazer o diagnóstico do cabo HDMI até ser solicitado para baixar a resolução da TV.
* Confirmar o uso de resolução menor.

Feito isto, é possível ver por alguns segundos um resultado positivo, com uma qualidade boa da imagem. Mas não demora muito para perder o sinal novamente...

Usar um conversor AV para HDMI traria uma melhoria na imagem análoga ao conversor SCART?

I can confirm that it works fine with the OSSC scan converter and decent SCART RGBS c-sync cables.

In the end of the day, if you're up to setup your retro consoles on modern TVs, it's better to spend a little more in quality components to avoid headaches.

No final das contas, se for configurar seus consoles retro para jogar em TVs modernas, é melhor gastar um pouco mais em componentes de qualidade para evitar dores de cabeça.

É muito caro importar conversores como RetroTink no Brasil, mas o OSSC da Bitfunx achei que tem uma qualidade OK e não é tão mais caro que conversores genéricos quando em promoção.

Os cabos SCART RGBS nacionais da RetroMemory também são de excelente qualidade para não ter que importar os europeus!
