So I have an S90C 65", the first disappointment was the lack of DTS support. I got over it, I will just use the devices plugged into my AVR instead.

Then you can set up your devices and have shortcuts when connecting through the AVR, but these refuse to use the EDID of the device, and will only activate the AVR to theast used device. Makes the universal remote hard to use. You then have to go through extra steps to activate the device you want.

You may argue that the AVR being a different brand, etc, etc, this has nothing to do with it.

If you press home, got to connected devices and then to the device that was setup through the AVR, press down and go to Anynet+ the devices are listed there and clicking on the correct device activates the device, so it's not an external issue, a software issue with the TV, the TV identifies it and sends the correct signals through a particular way, just not the way it should work.

It would also be nice to be able to disable the game tab, or have some apps and devices be able to be listed on the home tab instead. Twitch(which is a stream platform and not actually a game) and my PS5 should be able to be listed on the media tab, I don't need the other game stuff that is listed there, and adds extra steps to accessing things that I may want to use. There isn't any quick actions on the remote for this either, maybe if there was a game tab button as well as home, it's just poor UI, poor user experience.

I have had the TV for about a year now, it seriously makes me consider not buying another Samsung TV, Samsung can't get simple UI things right.

My blood boils at my tizen TV has every other streaming DVR and game console available to configure from templates except for Google TV / Chromecast like why there's got to be one of the most popular.
I'm without this appropriate configuration template and sis on setting up my Google TV as a PC so the colour gamma and all the other visual settings are simplified.

I do see that Google is available if you search for it when you go to connected devices and set up universal remote. They have NVIDIA there as well, which is pretty much the same, I have a Shield, was hoping to dump it but the TV although capable, just isn't a replacement which is disappointing.

Did you hear that Samsung is retiring Tizen next year?
They are still support updates etc for 8 years but new devices will not have it.

Is that for TV as well or just watches. It's somewhat confusing using the same name for completely different products.

I just don't understand how simple functionality which I know works, is just missing.

I get "we can't test every product" but that is just an excuse. CEC is rubbish, but it's rubbish because there isn't any care put into it by manufacturers. This is just simple stuff, and "universal" remote isn't very "universal" if you can't get CEC to function correctly due to laziness or poor QA.

This is tizen being retired across the board it will no longer be offered in new products.
The facts are there probably is not productive for Samsung to have to build a Bespoke operating system by themselves even though most of it is open source on github.
From where I can tell it's a very unique system architectural wise.
I think the whole OS runs via api calls....??
