I have the Galaxy Watch 5 that I have been using for a little over a year now, the battery life has never been great, but I throw it on the charger every morning, charge it to 100% and I'm good to go until the next morning. I've had it connected to a Galaxy S22 Ultra, and yesterday I upgraded to an S24 Ultra. Last night around 10pm I got a notification that my watch was already at 15%, and it was dead when I woke up this morning. I assumed I drained the battery somehow setting it up with the new phone.
This morning I put it on and within an hour it's already dropped 10%. I checked and it shows that the Samsung Health Monitor app is draining it the most, followed by the Samsung Health app. I used Smart Switch and transferred everything from my old phone to my new phone and as far as I know all my settings stayed the same.
Is there something I may have missed that wouldn't have transferred? It won't let me turn off "allow to run in background on either app, but I'm sure I didn't have those off before.
Does anyone have any ideas why these apps could be draining my watches battery so fast?

Hi DormantKaos,

Sorry to hear this issue from you. When switching your Galaxy Watch 5 to a new phone like the Galaxy S24 Ultra, a sudden increase in battery drain may happen due to synchronization and background activity during the initial setup.

Restart your Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. This can help clear temporary glitches, especially post-transfer.

When you switch phones, the watch might sync a backlog of data to Samsung Health and Health Monitor, leading to temporary increased power consumption.

Open Samsung Health and ensure all data has synced. Do the same for Samsung Health Monitor.

Sometimes, the Samsung Health Monitor app can misbehave after a Smart Switch transfer.

Uninstall the Samsung Health Monitor app on your S24 Ultra. Reinstall it from the Galaxy Store and re-link your watch. Check permissions for the app and ensure they're appropriate.

If the issue persists after syncing and app adjustments, factory resetting the watch and pairing it anew with the S24 Ultra might help.

Backup your data in Galaxy Wearable > Watch settings > Account and backup > Back up data. Reset the watch (Settings > General > Reset).

After making adjustments, monitor battery usage for a few hours. If Samsung Health and Health Monitor are still at the top, it indicates that syncing or background processes are likely the culprit.

Thank you.

Thanks for the quick reply, I assumed yesterday's battery drain was due to reasons like you stated but didn't understand why after a full recharge and using as usual it was still doing it today. I force close the Samsung health monitor and Samsung health app and I think I already see some improvement, but it's only been about 30 minutes so it's hard to tell

I'm sorry as a Canadian. I did my research before purchasing this watch. And Samsung told me that all features are available. And I have the transcripts to prove this, so I purchased this watch. And it cost almost a $1000 to find out that these features are not available for Canadians. And not even Samsung new that there was a problem with the sleep apnea on these watches.
I missed time off work. Trying to deal with this issue with Samsung, and they outright, lied to me and I have the transcripts to prove it.
All it is is a money grab for samsung before christmas

Not sure why you spent almost $1000, mine was less than $500. Unless you're talking about a different watch, which then I don't understand why you're commenting on my post. Actually, I anyway don't understand why you're using my post to vent your frustrations, if you weren't happy with it, why didn't you hear return it?

Samsung needs to stop stealing people's money and put the features in that they say are available to everybody.
Not just sweep it under the carpet and hope no one notices before christmas
