Samsung registers what might be the Galaxy Buds 2 with the FCC

Samsung may not be too far away from its next Unpacked event at this point. It is thought to unveil the Galaxy Watch 4 and 4 Active at present, if not the OEM's super-flagship Z Fold3 smartphone. This kind of speculation might now have more weight thanks to a new FCC certification obtained by the South Korean giant.

The new approval for use in the US pertains to the SM-R177, a pair of TWS earbuds with their almost obligatory charging case. These accessories are thought to be called the Galaxy Buds 2 on their launch, and this new leak seems to uphold this theory.

The buds have a charging case (EP-QR177) that powers up at a standard 5V/500mA rate and is depicted as having a footprint not unlike that of the Galaxy Buds Live. Then again, the actual earphones do not deviate hugely from the original Buds in their shape, as per their new official testing images.

All in all, if the "Galaxy Buds 2" have particularly advanced or high-end specs, they are not hugely apparent from their new filing. On the other hand, that might make the price on their debut attractive enough to many consumers.
