Google Messaging Hiding My Typing

I have only used Google Messaging on my phone so I don't know what the Samsung Messaging app behaves like. 

My Google Messaging app overrides my phone's default text size in the messages, making the text too large and while i type everything gets buried down beneath the bar (bad design). I therefore cannot see what I am typing.

I have already checked my settings within the app. Nadda.

You should be able to change the text size by using 2 finger pinch in or out on your screen in the message
