Introduction to the Galaxy S26 document scanning feature

Introducing the Galaxy S26's "Document Scan" feature, featuring innovative image processing technology and user-friendly features.
Starting with the Galaxy S26, every step from document scanning to editing, saving, and sharing becomes much easier.
Not only has it enhanced scan image processing technology, but it also maximizes work efficiency with multi-scan functionality that can quickly process multiple documents, along with various options and editing features.

1. Enhanced Scanning and Image Processing Technology:

The document scanning feature of the Galaxy S26 delivers optimal results to users through innovative image processing technology.

The document flattening algorithm has been enhanced to automatically correct warped or folded documents, and is especially specialized for expanded book pages for smoother spreading.

Additionally, a smart distraction removal system has been introduced. It automatically detects and corrects major distractions such as fingers, folded corners, and the monitor's wavy patterns (moire) to produce clean scan results.

Additionally, there are four customizable document filter options: Clean, Natural, Black and White Shading, and Black & White.
Each filter is designed for specific document types, allowing you to handle a wide range of situations, from standard documents to color pages.

2. User-Friendly Preview and Editing Features

The Galaxy S26 is equipped with various features to provide users with a more accurate and convenient document scanning experience.
With the preview feature, you can first check the results of scanned documents and edit the necessary parts immediately.

a. To compensate for minor errors that may occur during document area adjustment and image rotation scanning, users can freely adjust the rotation direction of the image or manually change the truncated document area.

Especially when there are elements like straight page boundaries in documents, moving the handle in the middle of the four sides provides a magnet function that automatically attaches the handle to the straight line, making it easy and fast to align the document boundary. This feature is especially useful when certain parts of the document are cropped or not rotated to the desired angle.

Also, holding down the vertex or handle activates the magnifying glass function, allowing you to adjust the area more precisely.

b. Filter Selection
Depending on the type of document, you can choose from various filters, which can improve the readability of your document. For documents with a lot of text, you can apply filters to increase sharpness, and for documents with many images, filters that correct colors. 

Each filter is designed to suit the characteristics of your document, allowing for improved results.

c. Erase Function On/Off:
Automatically revives deleted objects or allows you to restore unintentionally deleted parts. This feature allows users to selectively preserve or restore only the parts they want, helping to improve document accuracy. Parts accidentally deleted during scanning can also be easily recovered.

These features of the Galaxy S26 help users scan and edit documents more conveniently and efficiently, contributing to higher quality of final results.

The Galaxy S26 offers convenient multi-scan functionality for users who need to handle multiple documents, such as books or bundles of documents. This feature allows users to scan multiple documents in succession, and using the automatic scan option makes the process even more convenient.

With the continuous scan feature, you can scan documents composed of multiple pages at once, saving time. When the auto-scan option is enabled, the next page is automatically recognized and scanned, even if the user doesn't have to press the scan button every time.

After scanning is complete, you can utilize the multi-document editing feature. This feature allows users to freely edit multiple scanned documents.
You can change the order of documents or add or delete necessary pages, allowing you to organize your final document as you wish.
Additionally, each page can be adjusted individually, making it convenient when you need to edit only specific pages.
These features increase flexibility in document work, helping users complete tasks more easily and quickly.

4. PDF Save and Share Quickly

The Galaxy S26 offers PDF saving and sharing features that make document management and sharing even more convenient for users.
After scanning multiple documents, you can easily save them as a single PDF file, making document management easier.

Additionally, by using the share button, you can share your scan results immediately without having to navigate to a separate app or menu.

5. Option to select default resolution

Have you ever experienced inconvenience when carrying document images or uploading them to a website because the image size is too large?
To address this, we offer three resolution options (basic, high, low).

• High resolution settings (High) Provides high-quality images, but the image size is large and processing time is longer.
• Low resolution settings (low  resolution slightly reduces image quality, but the file size is smaller and results can be obtained faster).

1. Single Camera Document Scan

Starting with the Galaxy S26, the scan button appears directly on the photo mode preview screen. When you take a photo so all four vertices of the document are visible, the scan button is activated at the bottom center.

After pressing the scan button, wait a moment to preview the scan results. After checking the results through the preview and finding no issues, you can press the save button to save the document.

2. Multi-document scanning with the camera

The Galaxy S26 supports a dedicated mode that allows you to shoot multiple documents in succession. There are three main ways to approach this feature.

After capturing multiple documents with the multi-scan function, press the 'Next' button to view the captured images.
If there are no issues, use the 'Save as PDF' button at the bottom center to save as PDF, or use the '...' button at the top rightYou can save images via the button.

3. Gallery document scanning

This is a useful feature when you want to first take a general photo containing documents and then scan them later in the gallery.
When you see text in the gallery, the T button is activated at the bottom right, and pressing the T button activates the scan button. 

By pressing the scan button, you can automatically crop and view a corrected preview image with the same experience as in the camera's photo mode.
If there are no issues with the scan results, you can press the save button to save them as a separate file.

Shooting Guide for Optimal Movement

1. Document Recognition

Document recognition is effective when the proportion of text occupies more than 20% of the area within a document. If there is only an image without text, the camera may not recognize it as a document.

The original document format must be rectangular, and all four vertices of the document must be visible on the camera screen without obstruction.
If the document fills the screen too full, the vertices and boundaries of the document may extend beyond the screen, so the document size on screen should be about 80% of the total screen.

2. Document Photography

You will get the sharpest results when shooting the document side so that it is horizontal to the camera. Because the document is small, if you shoot up close, some areas may become blurry due to the nature of high-definition camera lenses. 

In such cases, zoom in with the camera zoom function and then use the document scan function to obtain clearer document images.

3. Degree of Document Warping & Folding

For folded documents, it can be folded up to twice, and corrections are possible if the angle between folded surfaces is 130 degrees ~ 180 degrees.
Camera tilt based on documents supports up to 20 degrees from the origin when the document is horizontal.

4. Removing finger and corner folds

For distraction removal to work, there must be at least 0.7cm of distance between the distraction and the document content (text/image). If the distraction completely covers the content, the function will not work. Also, if the distraction area is too small or the ratio is low relative to document size, the feature may not function properly.

If the color pattern of the distraction is unusual—for example, if you have tattoos or nail art on your finger or a finger eraser, it may not work.

5. Removal of monitor wave patterns (moire)

If the moiré pattern on the monitor is too thick or too dark, it may not be completely removed and residual moiré may remain.

6. Document-Specific Filter Features

Clean filters remove weak colors or background patterns while increasing the contrast between content and background, making them suitable when you want to eliminate weak patterns in document backgrounds.

Natural filters enhance the contrast between content and background while preserving pattern information, making them ideal for preserving patterns around documents while enhancing clarity.

The black-and-white shade filter converts color tones to gray tones while preserving natural color changes, making it ideal when you want to remove color while maintaining natural tonal changes.

The black-and-white filter is suitable when you want to maximize the contrast between the background (paper) and foreground (text) by making the image consist only of black and white.
