When airplane mode being enabled, date and time will be reset after phone reboot.

My phone is Samsung Galaxy A73 5G (model name: SM-A736B/DS).

For my phone, the date and time will be reset to 7 August 2024, 07:43 am.

This issue will happen regardless of whether automatic date and time had been enabled or disabled in settings.

Even if I disabled automatic time zone and manually set the time zone, it does not fix the issue.

Steps to reproduce this issue:
1. Ensure the date and time on your phone is correct before enabling airplane mode.
2. Enable airplane mode, and disable wifi and bluetooth.
3. Power off your phone (fully shutdown).
4. When the phone is fully powered off, WAIT FOR AT LEAST 1 MINUTE before power on again.
5. After waiting for at least 1 minute, power on your phone. Wait for it to be fully booted.
6. You will notice that the date and time had been reset and not correct.

I will always enable airplane mode and power off my phone before boarding any flight. In flight, sometimes, I need to power on my phone to see the current time.

I do believe that my phone, just like many other smartphones and computers in the market, has a built-in RTC (real time clock) that will keep running when the phone is off. Correct me if I am wrong.

I had reported this issue through feedback by using Samsung member app.

Does anyone has any solution?

i think you don't need to shut down your phone entirely when you take boarding, that's airplane mode job: when you are boarding then simply turn on airplane mode w/o having turn off your phone, you can enjoy your phone thru WiFi if your plane provide this service.

so your phone's time won't reset

tbh this issue doesn't happen on any of my phone, so idk how to give you a solution, but personally it's enough to only turn on airplane mode when boarding

I believe there must be a reason why airlines require passengers' electronic devices be switched off during take off and landing. Safety cannot be compromised.

If you concern that, just turn off the "Automatic" date and time, "Automatic" Timezone, and any app that has access to your system setting

Your suggestion do not work. Even with the automatic date and time and automatic time zone disabled, after enabling airplane mode, after reboot, the date and time still reset.

If it's a persistent occurrence, perhaps can bring it to Samsung centre for checking. Could be some hardware failure or bad software updates.
