Galaxy MMultiple YouTubers from India have started publishing a teaser video of the Galaxy M42 on Twitter. The teaser video mentions #FastestMonster and 5G connectivity, and the tweets contain the #GalaxyM42 hashtag. The Galaxy M42 5G is expected to be a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G for the Indian market. It might share a lot of its specifications with the Galaxy A42 5G, except for the battery capacity. Galaxy M series smartphones are generally known for using higher capacity batteries when compared to the Galaxy A series, so we can expect the Galaxy M42 to feature a 6,000mAh (or bigger) battery.
Galaxy M42 5G expected specs, pricing
IANS has independently reported that Samsung will price the Galaxy M42 anywhere between INR 20,000 (around $266) and INR 25,000 (around $333). The phone is expected to feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display, similar to the Galaxy A42 5G. However, there are chances of Samsung throwing in a higher-refresh-rate panel with the device, similar to what it did with the Galaxy M12. It could feature a 20MP selfie camera and a 48MP rear-facing quad-camera setup. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 750G processor, in combination with 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a microSD card slot.
The Galaxy M42 5G could also debut with Android 11-based One UI 3.1 out of the box. It could be a dual-SIM device with 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC connectivity. It could also feature a headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, an in-display optical fingerprint reader, and 15W fast charging. The phone will compete with the likes of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Realme X7, and the Mi 10i in India.
