No, i don't think you can do that. Dual SIM device require two radio equipment in the phone, which usually is not included in single SIM device.

You can't just change the Sim tray and expect it to work without the hardware to support dual Sim, it must have 2 GSM readers to be able to use dual Sim just because the US version is not the same as the international version
