One of the most useful new camera features introduced on the Galaxy S21 lineup is Director’s View. It’s a dedicated shooting mode that lets you see the feed from and switch between all rear cameras while recording videos and also enables you to record video via the front camera at the same time.

When Samsung updated older Galaxy flagships, such as the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups, with some of the Galaxy S21 camera features, Director’s View didn’t come along for the ride. But while Director’s View is still missing from all Samsung flagships except the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung has introduced a somewhat stripped down version to the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series with the latest software update for these devices.

Front and rear camera recording at the same time, but no Director’s View

Those who have received this particular update, which includes the May 2021 security patch, on their Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will find a new mode called Dual Recording in the camera app. As the name suggests, this mode lets you record video from both the front and primary rear camera at the same time, with the feed from one of the two cameras showing up in a small window at the top that can be moved around freely.
