Here's a tale as old as time...
2 weeks ago on the 14th of October, I was scrolling gingerly on social media as part of my morning routine and all of a sudden, the immanent green line of DEATH appears on my screen with no apparent warning beforehand. Can't say I was surprised because I have seen countless reports about this on Samsung's community forum and I've had an inkling that it might eventually happen. Bare in mind, I am one of those tech geeks who absolutely "baby" their phone, I've never once dropped my phone or even let it out of it's case unless I was giving it it's occasional wipe down with a smooth and silky microfiber cleaning cloth, I even had a screen protector installed at all times. So you can imagine how saddened I was by this misfortune. I did however, have a glimmer of hope as I remembered that Samsung was at one point offering a free screen replacement for users affected by this plague, so I, with my wishful hat on, went to a nearby Samsung service centre to report this issue and was told by the employee that I could send it in for diagnosis and escalate this issue to Samsung at RM80, possibly getting a free screen replacement given that this issue is MOST LIKELY down to a mass manufacturing defect.

Here's the fun part, I waited for almost two weeks for SOME update and was dismayed by the news that Samsung had rejected my plea for a screen replacement as my phone was out of warranty despite knowing full well my phone had no other issues and that the display issuesis entirely on hardware defect, they requested an additional RM760 from me if I do decide to get a new display. That's not a measly amount, at least not to me as I have just recently graduated and my first paycheck hasn't even arrived yet, so I've requested for the service centre to reinstall the old screen and hand it back to me. Now, I am down RM80 and still have a phone with a faulty screen. I've had SEVERAL issues with Samsung's phones partaining to the display, first it was my S9+ with a green flickering display, then it was my Note20U with a green bordered screen, and now an S22U with a green vertical line down the left side of my screen. Bare in mind, they weren't all owned be me, some belonged to my family members. This just goes to show how consistently unreliable Samsung's products can be when it comes to QC. Dear Samsung Malaysia, please do something. I know I'm probably gonna have to give up on ever fixing my S22U and bid farewell to my Samsung loyalty unless I get this issue resplved. With this post, I do not intend to tarnish Samsung's reputation but to leave an impression for Samsung to do good by their customers. If you're aware that you have a faulty product, please have the courtesy to offer some compensation or issue a recall, better yet, don't make faulty products, I'm sure you're perfectly capable of that.

I wish to stay a Samsung user as I truly do appreciate the S Pen and all of it's productivity centric functions. As an on-the-go sketcher and note taker, I can take full advantage of the S Pen and have yet to find a worthy replacement, I suppose getting a tablet would be the next best thing but I am not eager to carry around a 10+ inch display with me all the time. So Samsung, please...hear me out.

you suppose to trade in your S22 when S23 pre-order was available in 2023 to avoid green line issue, this is the only way, and including for all your older galaxy

or simply change to other android brand

anyway, you should let your phone outside case because you need to let heat to be out when you are charging or updating your phone, main culprit of green line is heat, so putting a case during charging or updating your phone might increase heat of your phone

green line issue is like accumulation of heat, so even when you just scrolling social media, your internal phone also generate heat and you prevent heat to go away thanks to your casing

I'm not rich, I can't just upgrade to a new phone at the drop of a hat. Besides, I really did like the S22U, it served me well up till now. Thank you for the tips about the case, although I should note that the case I'm using is the official silicone one from Samsung, but I'll make sure to be more cautious with my future devices. Also... Why do Samsung phone generate so much heat?!

Hi
I have this green line screen issue today also. Been using S7 edge, note 9, galaxy s21 ultra 5G.. each with its own issue and rarely can last 3 years. Is the only way around this is to replace screen?

Same here. Your phone condition is exactly like mine. 1st update when the new AI launch the green bar appear on top left. Then last month i decided another update hopefully will fix the previous update but worse. A green vertical line appear. Brought to samsung center and they inspect no drop history. Phone in tiptop condition but they say need to pay rm776 to change the lcd. Thats terrible. Why am i want to pay for something that is not my mistake. Never buy a samsung phone again and currently im viral this case and raise an awareness so nobody going to buy samsung again.

While Samsung said no report made on this problem. The truth is they are being ignorance. Just browse google, youtube, tiktok and you can see how many complaints are there. Its worldwide.1732075779024.jpg1732075779057.jpg1732075779082.jpg1732075779107.jpg
