S20+ White Screen, Green Line, Overheating since software upgrade

Bought on 30 June 2020 and just before 2 years face this issue and got to know this is common issue since the recent software update.

The main issue is overheating since upgrade which eventually end up damaging the screen which Samsung rep told me quite sensitive.

My phone never dropped or any damaged, physically it still looks brand new but this happened.

When this is a common issue worldwide, why Samsung still not taking any action to compensate owners? The repair is not cheap and this is your flagship phone!

If it can overheat just by normal usage then why care to call this as flagship? We can just buy the cheaper ones.

Samsung MUST give a solution to this! We as the owners need to make official report to get solution if no they will keep being irresponsible and produce same quality products.

This is not user problem but bad quality of product and we are not supposed to us our money to repair when there is only 3 months warranty and this problem can repeat again.WhatsApp Image 2022-06-11 at 9.30.30 PM.jpegWhatsApp Image 2022-06-11 at 9.29.04 PM.jpeg

Sorry to hear that. Since you did meet with Samsung support, other than they told you the screen/ device are 'quite sensitive', do they actually advice you? Like what they can do or anything?

I am curious with this kind of problem too especially the issue which cause by software update but the device is out of warranty. What can Samsung do? We have to pay for the repair?

Nothing actually. They just told me to call/chat customer support and see if they could help.

I use the email to CEO option and get nothing in reply. They just informed will inform relevant person and improve in future, where I get nothing.

Same issue for me, no drop and any damage. Turned my phone on in the morning and was greeted with a striking a green vertical line. Samsung service centre asks for RM900+ just to replace cuz warranty is over. Lost my confidence in Samsung!

Totally the same with me. Its so sensitive and yet called as flagship.

To be honest, this issue is actually not a user faulty (it happened all around the world especially for S20 user) but Samsung doesn't want to take the responsibility.

Sorry to hear that from you too. But for a RM 900 screen repair, it doesn't give a security or warranty that the problem won't come back again.

All i can advise is to wait for the next update for Samsung S20. If there is a luck, it might solve it (well you know luck is like 50-50). The reason i said so is because, when the S20 released back then, Samsung do encounter the same issue but after an update released by them it actually solve the issue. The screen issue so far are mainly on S20 series only so if you want to get a different model, it should be no issue there. But i won't suggest you to repair it for RM 900. With the amount of money, i rather go for a new device.

I don't think the next update could solve because the screen is now damaged.

Like what i said, the software update is just depend on luck to fix it because in the beginning of S20 released, there is a same issue happened and being solved by software update. No one really predict that problem come back again.

If you ask me, that is for sure a hardware issue.

As for now, is really depend on the user/ yourself whether you want to change the screen or not because Samsung Malaysia don't take the responsibility for the problem earlier and by now just blaming that the device warranty is expired (as predicted). Is kinda disappointing for sure.

Sorry to hear that your phone with the situation. I know is 2 year old device but still, you know that is an expensive phone. If you ask me, the only thing you can do is to get a new device because it is 100% not worth for the repair. RM 900 for a repair is kinda of crazy to me. You might/ maybe can get cheaper price for the repair if you go to other shop but if the problem occur back, you will surely angry and stun. I don't agree to go for a repair through other shop because of 'trust'. I have some experience on how 'other shop' doing the job, so i won't recommend it. But still it is up to you to decide. If budget is not an issue to you, you might think of a new device.

Same problem with my s20+. The green line just suddenly appear in the morning. Just remember last update on 24th June 2022. So mess up with samsung. Go to service centre, they want RM900++ to replace the screen with 3 month warranty. **bleep**, i need to used my money for this.. so frustrated 😠 😡
