wechat notification not showing

hi can anyone help giving some tips on all the setting? all the wechat Notification just wasn't showing, need to click into the app then the messages start appearing. thanks in advance!

I figured this out twice, and it's really hard to find.  The problem is that the setting for LED message notifications is hidden inside of wechat's setting in an unexpected place.

I have a Samsung 9+.  Here's what I did:
Android settings -> Apps -> WeChat -> Notifications -> Messages (turn on) -> Alert (turn on even if you don't want a sound) , then

Sound -> silent (or some sound you want)
Blink light -> On
App Icon badges -> On  (or your preference)
...

This worked for me. Open the wechat app, Me > Settings > Message Notifications > Device Settings > Turn on "Show as Pop-up"

Then adjust the volume for notifications. Turns out my notifications volume was at zero so I couldn't hear any.
