its not a virus, Don't worry, some app images weren't designed to be opened in the gallery and probably some app didn't configure it to hide the image you're talking about.

I think it's a little strange for an invalid image to be in your gallery, but if you can do that, try to find the name of this "image" and then install a file manager that can find this "image" by its name. If you don't find anything, just ignore it. :)

It only appears to file managers when i compress them. If I delete the images from the file manager it still appears on gallery.

this is quite strange, it's probably a corrupted image or some app on your phone didn't hide it properly.

I can't recommend a factory reset, probably with a temporary backup on the Samsung cloud these invalid images will be saved and restored after the phone starts restoring its backup, but if you prefer to take the risk I would do that. Maybe after this, the images may be deleted and not returned :)

the backup will save all files, images, videos and will probably save those invalid images (or maybe not). But when you factory reset your phone and recover your backup, these images may be gone or can be deleted without coming back. I've never come across this, but if you want to try, it might be a good idea!

but please remember: make the temporary backup in the cloud (it is in settings > general management > restore > temporary cloud backup). This will back up your files, so do this before returning to factory settings and retrace this path when you decide to recover your data from the backup.

good luck :)

Thanks! One last question, is there any harm in having corrupted images in your device? And how can a photo taken with galaxy camera become corrupted?

looks like your comment appeared! I can't imagine what causes a camera image to become corrupted, it has never occurred to me that there are invalid images as they are appearing on your phone, the only time they appeared on mine was a few years ago, when I restored an export from my Google Photos. It's a little confusing, but it won't cause any harm. rest assured! 😉
