Both the Exynos 1380 and the Exynos 1330 support up to LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.
Samsung has taken the wraps off the mid-range Exynos 1380 and the Exyno 1330 SoCs. Meant to power the company’s low-to-mid-end offerings, both Exynos chips are rocking an octa-core big.LITTLE design, ARM Mali G68 GPUs, 5G modems, and support for high refresh rate FHD+ displays.
Samsung' affordable Galaxy A series phones have leaked extensively giving us a hint that the devices might be releasing in the coming months. For instance, the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy A34 5G have leaked with triple camera systems on the back and a Galaxy S23-esque design. Samsung has now officially revealed the mid-range Exynos 1380 and the Exynos 1330 SoCs which could drive the company’s budget Galaxy lineup in 2023.
Exynos 1380
Rumored to appear in the Galaxy A54 5G, the Exynos 1380 is the more powerful of the duo. The SoC has 8 cores with four big Cortex A78 cores running at 2.4 GHz and four small Cortex A55 cores running at 2 GHz. The CPU is paired with a five-core ARM Mali G68 MP5 GPU clocked at 950 MHz. Rounding this package of is an NPU that Samsung claims can perform up to 4.9 trillion operations per second (TOPS) and a 5G modem capable of up to 3.67 Gbps download speeds.
Additionally, the Exynos 1380 supports up to a 200 MP camera sensor and is rated to deliver zero shutter delay for resolutions reaching 64 MP. The SoC also supports Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) to result in judder-free images.
Finally, the Exynos 1380 can drive an FHD+ display at 144 Hz.
Exynos 1330
Although the Exynos 1330 also rocks 8 cores, the core configuration is different than the Exynos 1380 since there are just two powerful Cortex A78 cores at 2.4 GHz and six low-powered Cortex A55 cores at 2 GHz. The GPU is also downgraded as the SoC’s Mali G68 MP2 only has two cores.
Moreover, the Exynos 1330 supports up to 120 Hz FHD+ displays, a 108 MP camera sensor, and 4K video recording at 30 fps. The 5G modem has also seen some downgrades vs the Exynos 1380 as it can only go up to 2.55 Gbps download speeds.
Suffice to say, the new Exynos 1380 and the Exynos 1330 look impressive based on their specs. Let’s hope they prove to be just as good in our testing when we get our hands on the Galaxy devices rocking these SoCs later this year.
