why do i feel like the s23 camera is a bit soft and a lot of noise? is there any way to change this in settings or just wait for an update? i just wish its a bit more contrasty like the ip15, and why does the 50mp camera looks way over processed?

HEIF is just a picture format, nothing to do with camera performance.
iphone do use this format as a way to reduce their file size

it actually has something to do with camera performance -> image quality.

HEIF does support higher bit depth compared to JPEG -> more details in highlights, mid-tones, whites-to-blacks ratio, etc.

also, HEIF can be enabled in Samsung camera to produce an image with smaller size to save space
