I am not able to get the gesture option to work, but the double tap on the home button does work properly.

The new gesture is a little hard to get used to on day 1. I suspect that it will get easier with time and learning the muscle memory.

Yeah it took me about 15 tries before I got the hang of it. You really have to start the gesture way down towards the last 10th of an inch of screen and move down. The distance of the motion itself is actually very short.
