I find sometime having to reboot my device in order to attach a photo to an MMS text. When I select attach photo, the gallery doesn't populate the images. Even when I select an image to attach it does not appear in the text. I end up having to reboot my device for it to function properly.
Please try clearing the system cache of your device.
