Samsung MembersHello Members, I hope you're all safe and well during this rainy season! It has been a crazy week for me as I'm transitioning into my full-time career after being on a long break since my graduation. So glad to be part of this Samsung Makers' series and share a feature that I cannot live without since I'd began using it with my Galaxy S8 - Samsung Pay!
It's my turn today!! I hope you all find this post informative.
Samsung mobile devices (phones, watches) are among the first to offer storage of mobile tokens which represents your usual payment cards (debit/credit). This allows you to securely store you card within your phone and use it for transaction through NFC (Pay Wave). Simple right? Aside from storage of payment cards, Samsung Pay also now supports storage of member cards (preferably with barcode tags). In return for its usage, you get to claim points through its Rewards program (e.g. cash vouchers) with every successful transaction.
General concept of Samsung Pay.
Let me take you through all 3 of these features (Payment, Membership & Rewards) and provide an example of how I use it in my daily life!
1. Currently Supported Payment Cards
In order to utilize Samsung Pay, first ensure that the card you own is listed within the list provided by Samsung.

2. Ensure you have the latest Samsung Pay updated on your Samsung Devices. Own a Samsung watch but not a Samsung phone? You can still run Samsung Pay by downloading the relevant plugins on your device (due to some technical issues faced, tutorial on Samsung Pay setup on watch will be done in a separate future post).
3. To setup the first time, select the "Quick Menu" from the home screen as shown in the image below.

4. Once in the "Quick Menu", you can choose to either view/add your payment or member cards through the options shown!

5. To add payment cards, select "Payment Cards". Here you can view your existing payment cards or add a new supported card to be used for future payments. Enter the card details as instructed by the application.

Use your uploaded card for future payment! Here's a video of how I use Samsung Pay after enjoying my meal. All payments are verified by biometrics security (fingerprint) or PIN number!
6. To further lighten your wallet and add member cards, select "Membership" on the Quick Menu. Here you can view your member cards or add other cards that you own. Samsung Pay itself supports memberships such as Airasia, Bonus Link, Sunway Pals, etc.). Don't find your card on this list? You can still add them manually!

7. After manually adding the front and back of my member card, I can now use it when making purchases in-store without requiring my physical card. The app automatically reads the barcode and turn it into a virtual copy!

Aside from making your wallet lighter, each transaction with Samsung Pay allows you to earn reward points based on your tier spending! Reward points can subsequently be converted into vouchers available within the Samsung Rewards page. What I love is once you'd achieved a tier, points collected are not dependent on the amount spent. For example, if you are in Gold-tier, every transaction (regardless of amount) gives you 40 points! How valuable is that?

If you have yet to try Samsung Pay on your Samsung mobile phones, try it today and experience convenience at your fingertips! Feel free to comment if you have any questions or better suggestions!!
