I have a Galaxy Fold

Want to do warranty claim on my screen issue. Warranty approval was smooth. But when I went over to the service centre, I was asked to leave my phone and they asked for my PIN number to unlock my phone.

What the hell....???

It's akin to asking your ATM card together with the pin.

Phone nowadays are linked to payment system, linked to cloud services, linked to company server, etc... And you tell me if can't unlock the phone, then can't do warranty claim. Wasted my time. Felt like throwing the phone. Such a big global company and your service centre casualty asked for unlock pin else, can't proceed with warranty claim. I have no issue with the SC, But if this is how Samsung works, it's crazy.

At least Huawei has a function which allows the service centre to do diagnostic without the need to access to customers PIN/UNLOCK SCREEN.

This is a serious security flaw in the service centre process.

Stupid Samsung.

Samsung SC at aeon melaka, I understood why they asked for it cos it has been like this since donkey years ago. but with more advancement and our reliance on the phone, there are more sensitive data on it. how can the SC still continue with the archaic method of asking customer for the unlock/pin, else they can't do the work.

Wasted my blahdy time going there and not getting the job done.

I have Huawei phones and did warranty claim before, they told me they can do diagnostic checks without the need to use the customers unlock pin.

I'm surprise such a global company still need user pin to unlock so the they can service the phone.

crazy.

that's odd, cuz for me they asked me to factory reset the phone or give them the pin if there are no important info on the phone

lose your phone and you might lose half your life. now they try to load everything to the phone, you can even unlock your car using phone, if you have smart home devices, everything can be controlled by the phone.

for SC to asked me to release my unlock pin without any supervision, how crazy is that... ? Samsung need to wake up.

I'm very unhappy about this. if I they can't replace my inner screen due to this, i will not hesitate to move back to Huawei.

stupid Samsung.

I'm think it's rather the worker who isn't doing their job seriously, I sent my Note 5 to them before and this never happened, same goes to my friend's A50s, he had his screen repaired and they didn't ask for the PIN

not sure if there is any channel to sangsung for me to lodge a proper complain. when they sell their galaxy fold, talk macam it's made of gold. it's pointless if their process **bleep**.

nowadays, you use phone to make payments, phone linked to touch n go, credit card, etc.... and the service centre expect us to release our unlock pin so that it's convenience for them ?

You are indeed right. By right or possibly they do have it but not known to some staff, a service software which could perform testing without unlocking the owner's phone and tampering their personal stuff.
