Given how far along technology has come we should have the ability to use Dex if the device and computer are on the same network. We have Steam in-home streaming. this is similar, granted the host machine is a powerhouse PC but the idea remains the same. Set specific limits for it to work and then run with it from there. I have used IDEs that allowed me to "cast" my app builds onto my devices and let me make real time changes to code or interface without issue all over WiFi.
I have used my phone to control my mouse on multiple computers, we even had the ability to "cast" using Sidesync which did allow a form of dex like remote control without the Dex interface or desktop. The technology is there, I would just love to see it implemented, think of the possibilities in cases like this.
I mean seriously, think about it. As long as you are on the same nework and you can set the security for the 2 to "talk" there should be no issues. Most wireless networks these days are gigabit speed the technology is definitely there. It just has to be implemented.
