No I am not talking about an exploding phone but rather something more than a wipe of data, a way of shutting the phone down remotely so that it won't even power on so thieves are screwed when they go to sell it, a high pitched squeal that you can't turn off would also be nice.

Lookout also has this feature installed. If your phone is stolen, you can log into your lookout account and data reset there among other things.

once linked to a google account the phone must be unlinked in order for someone else to use it. also samsung has that feature already where you can remote wipe, ping location and even lock the phone in case it's lost or stolen.

Google's Find My Device is all I need. I can lock, erase or locate it and it does work. I can also use Eset Mobile Security if I need to.

Google's find my device and your Samsung account both allow this. in fact, your Samsung account allows you to lock out the ability to power down the phone until the battery dies. you can even do a remote backup and sync operation.

Like others said, this feature exists already.
Also, although I get what you mean about thieves, people should ask sellers to demo a device before buying one used.
