I hope that whoever have the power to do so, please forward this message to the samsung camera engineers/software team.

To the Samsung Camera Engineering Team,

I am currently using a samsung A36. While the sensor hardware on @galaxy devices is world-class, the current Camera2 API software restrictions severely bottleneck what third-party applications like#MotionCam or gcam can achieve.

The main issue is the ultrawide lens, macro lens and the front lens is locked down by Samsung as the camera2api is shown as limited. For that reason, third party apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp are unable to make full use of the sensor. Android phones have always been a laughing stock due to bad quality images on third party apps, which actually can be easily fixed. Phones such as Vivo and Xiaomi is starting to allow other 3rd party apps to access the raw data from the sensors.

I am requesting that Samsung open up the following features via API opcodes or vendor extensions:
1.Dual Conversion Gain (DCG): The hardware supports it, but third-party RAW video apps are blocked from accessing it.
2.Unrestricted RAW Framerates: We need full 60fps RAW sensor readout across all lenses.
3.Unfiltered Sensor Access: Please allow third-party developers direct access to raw sensor data without forced OEM processing limiters.
4. Ensure all sensors get the full camera2api features not only the main lens.
5. Please do not limit the usability of the camera hardware just because we bought an A series phone. I will be honest with you A series phones aren't cheap too and should be able to enjoy features that isn't locked down by softwares when the hardware is already there.

Opening up these vendor tags and opcodes would instantly make Galaxy devices the undisputed top choice for mobile filmmakers.

For those people who want to support for this change even though you can't do much, all you can do is to heart this post to get the attention of the samsung team. Thank you for your time.

  • Unrestricted RAW Framerates: Kami perlukan full 60fps RAW sensor readout dekat semua lens.

Terima kasih atas masa anda.
