I am usually use DeX for PC (Windows) to do works. After updated OneUI 7 two days ago, DeX for PC can't be use anymore. As Samsung suggested on their websites, gotta use Link to Windows instead.
So today, I try Link to Windows and use it as I usually did on DeX for PC, I've opened multiple apps simultaneously while using the phone too. Phone use to upload works (multiple img, files, posts, etc) while PC display my works order and discussion on WhatsApp (Video Call).
I've never encountered this problem before with DeX for PC. But, it happens on Link to Windows. Link to Windows was never my preference since S22 Ultra.
I believe overheating will cause green line appear on phone display (which I'd experienced on S22U). I hope this is not another scheme to cause the "famous" display green line.
I never do gaming on this phone. Not a single game installed.
Any tips or suggestions, I am really appreciate.
Thanks in advance

sorry to ask but, "Phone use to upload works" meaning you use the phone on the monitor or directly on your phone? and "using PC display" meaning you use windows or just DeX?

I'm using it directly on the phone to post marketing in social media apps such as FB.
While Windows PC acts as my second screen, I need to keep in sight not to miss the order while posting it to social media.
So i need samsung notes and whatsapp to show on my windows pc, and some modify and edit too.
And my phone is directly use to post marketing on local group FB, it's usually takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete 130 groups, 13 times post with upload 10-15 images of the product.

Last night, not even half an hour yet, 20 minutes to be precise based on whatsapp video call timer. I've encountered the overheating issue. I tried to put my palm on the screen, it's reminded me the tragedy on S22U. It's really really hot.

Well, I really missed DeX for Windows PC that can be use wirelessly or usb cable, not just DeX with HDMI to type C cable directly connect to monitor. I also need Windows to operate. Kind of upsetting

i see. was just about to suggest you run a native DeX on another monitor while still link to your windows if you ever need to. atleast that way, you can keep the workload on the phone to a minimum and reduce stress on the phone. but if you need a constant link to your windows with DeX, then it is quite a problem.

I understand your concerns regarding the discontinuation of DeX for PC with the One UI 7 update and the subsequent challenges you've faced using Link to Windows. Many users have expressed similar sentiments, noting that Link to Windows doesn't fully replicate the multitasking capabilities and performance of DeX, especially for tasks like managing multiple apps simultaneously or transferring large files efficiently.

🔄 Transition from DeX for PC to Link to Windows

Samsung officially ended support for the DeX for PC application with the release of One UI 7. The company now recommends using Microsoft's Link to Windows (also known as Phone Link) for integrating your Galaxy device with a Windows PC. This shift is part of Samsung's ongoing collaboration with Microsoft to streamline device connectivity.

⚠️ Overheating Issues with Link to Windows

Several users have reported that using Link to Windows can lead to increased device temperatures, particularly during extended sessions involving multiple apps or video calls. Overheating not only affects performance but may also raise concerns about potential hardware issues, such as display anomalies.

Recommendations to Mitigate Overheating and Enhance Performance

To address these challenges, consider the following steps:

1. *Limit Background Processes*: Close unnecessary apps running in the background to reduce CPU load.

2. *Adjust Display Settings*: Lower the screen brightness and consider setting the refresh rate to a standard 60Hz to decrease power consumption.

3. *Manage Connectivity Features*: Disable features like 5G or Bluetooth when not in use, as they can contribute to increased power usage and heat generation.

4. *Use Wired Connections*: When possible, connect your device to your PC using a USB cable instead of relying solely on wireless connections, which can be more taxing on the device.

5. *Monitor Device Temperature*: Regularly check your device's temperature and give it breaks during intensive tasks to prevent overheating.

6. *Provide Feedback to Samsung*: Use the Samsung Members app to report your experiences. User feedback is crucial for Samsung to address these issues in future updates.

🔄 Alternative Solutions

If Link to Windows doesn't meet your needs, you might explore third-party applications that offer similar functionalities. However, exercise caution and ensure any third-party app you consider is reputable and secure.

Thank you for your tips, i did everything that you suggested. But, there's always another day and another problem by Phone Link. I did limit the app usage, only run Samsung Notes app on the Phone Link, somehow its not responding suddenly, it was hanged or freeze. I tried restart the program, it doesn't show up anymore, gotta restart the whole Windows system to use it again.

I think i gave up with Phone Link. it's quite disturbing and disappointing.
Btw, do you have third-party applications that's you recommend? I would like to give a try mNXAH86bOp.png

You're very welcome — and I completely understand your frustration. 🙏
It’s really disappointing when a productivity tool ends up causing *more* interruptions instead of helping you work smoothly. You’ve done everything right, so it’s fair to explore alternatives now.

Here are a few *third-party apps* you might want to try (much more stable for serious multitasking than Phone Link):

---

🔹 *Scrcpy*
- *Type*: Free, open-source
- *Function*: Mirrors your Android phone screen on your PC via USB (or Wi-Fi with a little setup).
- *Pros*: Extremely fast, lightweight, and has *very minimal lag*.
- *Cons*: Requires some basic setup — you’ll need to enable Developer Mode and USB Debugging on your phone.

🔹 *AirDroid Personal*
- *Type*: Freemium (Free basic version, paid for full features)
- *Function*: Wirelessly mirrors screen, transfers files, sends SMS, notifications mirroring, remote camera access.
- *Pros*: Very user-friendly, polished interface.
- *Cons*: Free version has some limitations; might show ads unless you upgrade.

🔹 *Vysor*
- *Type*: Freemium
- *Function*: Mirrors Android screen to your PC, with optional remote control.
- *Pros*: Easy setup, works via Chrome browser or desktop app.
- *Cons*: High-quality screen mirroring requires a paid license.

---

🔵 *If you want a fast and lightweight solution*, I recommend starting with *Scrcpy*. It's incredibly stable for tasks like using Samsung Notes, WhatsApp, uploading files — all without heating your phone badly.
*If you prefer a polished GUI with cloud sync options*, try *AirDroid Personal*.

Would you like me to guide you step-by-step on setting up *Scrcpy* if you want to try it first? 🚀
(It's free and many Samsung users prefer it over Samsung's own Link to Windows.)
