After updated the latest UI 5.0 / Android 13. I found out some of the useful function went missing in DEX mode. I only use DEX mode in Tab S8 Ultra.

1. Setting button, Power button missing. Especially setting button.

Setting, power button missingSetting, power button missing

2. In DEX mode, swipping up, left or right from the edge of the screen function also missing. This function is very convenient. Swipe up to return main screen. Swipe from edge or left or right side of screen can return to the previous page or cancel it. Why cancel this function in DEX mode. Now i have to tab those icons on the left side below of the screen to return or to main window.

3. Adaptive brightness not so acuraccy.

4. In notification panel, some notification cannot close after i try so hard / so many times to swipe to left or to right side.

At the moment, i can only think of this 4 items. I hope Samsung can get it fixed and get back the function in DEX mode. I like the DEX mode in big screen tab.

Regards,

Nicholas

Hi Nicholas, it is good practice for you to keep your Galaxy device up to date with the latest software releases from Samsung. Regarding your listing concerns:

1. yes, there are other methods that you still can access your power button and settings button, e.g:
i) you can customize to open settings menu from s pen air flow menu; s pen air action
ii) from apps drawer screen, there's a power button at bottom left
iii) you can configure and enable assistant menu button from accessibility setting (dexterity) OR "auto action after pointer stops"
iv) you can holding around 3sec for each quick settings menu icons to access setting
v) and the most easiest way is just put Settings shortcut on your dex desktop

2. you can install an apps call "one hand operation+" from galaxy store for you to use taskbar and hand gestures at the same time. From this apps also you can configure to quickly access power button and setting buttons.

3. Probably your tablet proximity sensor kind of dirty from fingerprint, do self-diagnostic to check usability of that sensor

4. Some notification, which is "persistent notification" categories can not just simply clear away from swiping either left or right. you need to manually disable that notification by holding tap that notification, and head to notification setting. care to share what notification that is?

I echo Nicholas' sentiments. Some of the updates on the Dex is applaudable, like the mini calendar on taskbar. But what really annoys me, are as follows:
1. Every time I type now, I have this hovering bar while I'm using a physical keyboard. I can't find a way to turn it off. It's excessively annoying and impairs my view sometimes especially when the UI goes a little bonkers.

2. I can't change my WiFi right from the taskbar any more. I have to go to the Settings proper. Previously, I just have to click on the name of the WiFi using my mouse, and I can easily change my WiFi connection.

3. Some of the fonts either look condensed or fat. It's a horrible UI/UX and we are currently, in 2023. What we have now, will be a UI/UX from 2018. That's unacceptable.

4. Notifications. Now, all the notifications are combined together, and when I try to expand it, it exits. Is that a bug or what? I can't check all notifications from the notifications bar in Dex any more.

Instead of having a more premium feel, it's currently just more annoying and lacklustre. I can't even find a feature to provide feedback on these updates.
