Edit: remember this is a beta program. using apps that are not downloaded from a reputable source always has a chance of something wrong with the app after its repacked. Not to mention that other things can be added to app as well. This can cause other bugs which may not be present with the regular app and can cause false reports which could be from a actual "incompatible apps" or malware/adware or just a bad repack etc.

Hello everyone!
As we all know not all apps are available on Android 10. This guide may have been much easier (but mostly less time consuming) had this been done in earlier betas. I have have read post and comments talking about sideloading apps from various sources.

While sideloading is of course a option, it can be risky. If you are ok with the risk, then thats fine.

But this is for those that dont want to take the chance of loading apps from other sources other than google or reputable app devs.

 ⚠️WARNING⚠️
 This is extremely time consuming!

Also beta 7 roll back support is not till monday so if already updated you will have to wait!

⚠️Always back up data (more on that in a sec)⚠️

 Straight to it then....

 1. Download the official beta "smart switch" from the link provided from the beta team.

If you cant search it for some odd reason, find a comment from the beta team and click to see profile and post. One has all the links you need for ur OS (Mac or pc)

If you have the OTG adapter download to phone > transfer to usb > usb to pc Smart switch may or may not be on ur device.

Use the galaxy store and search. The beta will be shown as the only option. Now Install both on computer and phone Smiling_Face

 2. Now connect phone to smart switch

 3. Press allow if prompted on phone. *drivers may need to be installed if first time connecting

 4. Back it up! Back up all your info using the back up button.

 5. Roll back to 9
This is were you go back to pie...🥧

 6. Set up device
Not all data can be transferred from beta to 9 so we will restore at a later point.

 7. The fun part! (Before the 🤢🤯😭😭😭☠ part)
Install alllllll the apps you needed to get but couldnt as of now.

*keep in mind that not all apps though installed on device may work later when done.

I can confirm that Netflix, disney+ do in fact work with no issue. (I had netflix but did this guide since i needed disney+ for my son... and me)

8. the 🤢🤯😭😭😭☠ part
This is where you update back to beta Go to ur settings to check for update. This is why it is time consuming. You will get updates in this order.

 Beta 1
 Beta 3
 Beta 4
 Beta 5
 Beta 6
 Beta 7

If your still alive after doing this, take a breath then proceed to next step

 9. Connect back to smart switch with usb
Here is where you get to hit the restore button and use the back up from yesterday Winking_Face

 10. (Ironic 10th step) Clear your cache to get rid of any bugs from other updates prior that may be present and you should be brand new watching avengers or the mandalorian

 Hope this guide helps you

i hope you had as much patience as me and did not destroy your phone in creative ways to kill time in the updates.

 Have a great day!

did you back up the home screen? if im not mistaken that saves the folder layout and app order. i believe if you have back up you can choose to only restore that part of back up again if you already restored

GET OVER IT! People are going to side load apps! I have used such as apkmirror for years and have had ZERO issues!

Were they complaining? All they said was that there are risks to sideloading apps, but if you're fine with that, its ok...

not complaining, this is a guide for those that are not comfortable with sideloading. I install apps from up to down, apk mirror and such when in a pinch but i still dont trust them. For this beta, i have refrained from doing so. From a cybersecurity perspective, telling someone to load an app from a site that they have never used(which is frequent) is irresponsible. it puts the user at risk knowing the web is full of bad actors. not to mention you should always scan apps when possible after downloading.
so not to offened, remember everyone is different in experience. it is everyones responsibility to assist each other with different issues. also remember no one is forcing you to read this. have a great day.
