Samsung announced today that it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification feature (IHRN) for the Galaxy Watch series. Once the IHRN feature is activated in the Samsung Health Monitor app, it will check for irregular heart rhythms in the background via the Galaxy Watch's BioActive Sensor. If a certain number of consecutive measurements are irregular, Galaxy Watch will warn the user of potential AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) activity, prompting them to take an ECG (Electrocardiogram) with the watch for more accurate measurements.

The IHRN feature will debut on the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series and will be extended to the previous Galaxy Watch 4 or 5 series via a software update.
