WearablesSamsung makes excellent smartwatches based on the Tizen operating system, but it still ranks third when it comes to the smartwatch market share. According to a new report from market research firm Counterpoint Research, Samsung’s market share increased in Q3 and Q4 of 2020, but it still ranked third when it comes to full-year 2020.
The South Korean firm reportedly shipped 9.1 million smartwatches in 2020. In comparison, Apple shipped 33.9 million Apple Watches last year, thanks to impressive sales of the Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Series 6. The Cupertino-based firm has been the number one smartwatch brand ever since it launched the first Apple Watch. Huawei shipped 11.1 million smartwatches in 2020, and its shipments improved by 26%.
In 2020, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 3, and the South Korean firm is rumored to be switching to Google’s Wear OS operating system later this year.
