Samsung watch ultra

I can't believe EE can't get  my ultra watch to work independently from my phone when I'm abroad.

I have a roaming contract, works in the UK fine, but not abroad, but works on Bluetooth ..

I think for £600 watch , that's  a waste and disappointing...
