Galaxy watches are still behind the competition because of their inability to use an external heart rate monitor like a chest strap.
Apple Watch and even way cheaper Amazfit watches like the T Rex 2 can connect to and utilise an external monitor.
Anyone who is even remotely interested in monitoring heart rate during exercise knows that optical sensors like those built into the watch are horribly inaccurate and cannot even begin to keep up with heart rate if it is rising quickly.
Chest strap monitors on the other hand are the gold standard. Samsung needs to lift its game and provide a simple software update that would allow the use of external monitors. It is not good enough that any of their watches, let alone their top of the range devices, do not have this functionality.
