S25U can't take RAW photos with 5x tele

Dear team,

I have encountered a couple of issues with the S25U concerning a third-party app called Motioncam Pro. This app records video and image data directly from the image sensor.

Issue 1:

The RAW stream for the 5x lens is incorrect. The live preview appears correct, but recordings show pink and grey lines across the entire image.

 

This same issue affected the S24 Ultra's main lens at launch and was subsequently resolved by Samsung with a software update:

Furthermore, the One UI 6.1.1 update has introduced this issue to the 3x telephoto lens.

Issue 2:

The RAW stream for the 3x and 5x lenses does not capture at 60fps, instead maxing out at 30fps. The Camera2API indicates that the S25U supports 60fps on all lenses for third-party applications. The previous S24 Ultra series supported this, so this limitation is unexpected.

These issues are not related to the Motioncam app; these functionalities should be fully operational on all devices that support them.

Dear Moderator,

Thank you for resolving Issue #1 in the February update.

However, Issue #2 remains partially unresolved. While the 5x telephoto functionality beyond 30fps has been successfully implemented, the 3x telephoto RAW stream is still capped at 30fps.

Will the 3x telephoto 30fps limitation be addressed in the next update?

It's also about time for Samsung to finally enable the Smart-ISO Pro (that was announced FOUR YEARS AGO) for use in third party apps!

The HP2 sensor supports it and we have that sensor since the S23 Ultra! Perhaps other sensors support DCG as well.

We don't have that, we don't have higher resolution RAWs.

Other manufacturers are getting ahead of you, Samsung!

Too bad I really doubt anyone from the camera team will ever see this.

It feels like the guys from the sensor manufacturing sector don't talk to the SW guys sitting in the other room.

Are these corrections in the February security patch update that is currently rolling out? I believe it has rolled out in Korea and is slowly rolling out in USA.

We received the update today and on behalf of the community we thank you for your work. It has given us 60fps now on all lenses apart from 1, the 63mm (3x) lens. It is still capped at 30fps RAW video stream.

The 5x lens now works too which is great!

Could you please look in to the 3x lens not having 60fps? As mentioned before, camera2api says 3x should have 60fps.

I just can't understand you, Samsung!

We were able to shoot at higher frame rates before with the same camera module on the S24U, up until you broke that with an update (that is still broken, by the way).

We know it can shoot 60fps (48 and 50 as well), you just need to enable that in the RAW stream.

Log Video just s*cks. The temporal noise reduction algorithms you are employing absolutely kills the footage. This is a joke.

We had a Software update today but it appears to only have been the March security patch. Do you have any idea of a rough timeline for the x3 lens 60fps RAW support?

Missing this lens at 60 really impacts my workflow because all other lenses support it!
