At first, we have to ask you. What are you actually doing on your phone before it heats-up and suddenly died?

...sounds like you're having a serious issue. I have the same device with up to date software too but, I can barely notice any problem except last week and earlier today with two crashes in total, and battery performance.

The best way to know what the issue with your device really is, is to troubleshoot it and rule out possibilities one after another.

First solution: Run your phone in safe mode

Doing this will immediately isolate the problem, especially if this issue is caused by some apps. If there are a bunch of apps running in the background, you can always expect the phone to heat up faster than it used to. This procedure will temporarily disable all third party applications but you can continue to use the phone. If the device doesn’t overheat while in safe mode, then it means that there are third-party apps that make it heat up fast. This is how you run your phone in safe mode:

Press and hold the Power key until options show. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

While your Galaxy A20 is in this mode and assuming that it’s not heating up fast or overheating, then the next thing you have to do is to look for the app that’s causing the issue. Here’s what you need to do:

Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to heat up fast or overheat. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. Scroll to and then tap Apps. Find and tap suspected app. Tap Storage. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if your phone is still heating up fast or overheating even in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Reset all settings on your phone

It is always possible that some settings that were changed are causing the phone to heat up fast or overheat. Since it’s difficult to determine it, you should just do a reset settings. This will bring the phone back to its default settings and configuration without deleting your files or data. Here’s how it’s done on your device:

Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. Scroll to and tap General management. Touch Reset. Tap Reset settings. Tap the Reset settings button. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. Finally, tap Reset.

When the settings reset is done, try using your phone like you usually do and see if it is still overheating.

Third solution: Wipe cache partition

Another possibility that we have to rule out is that this issue might be due to some corrupt system caches. These files get corrupted after firmware updates and when it happens, performance issues will always occur and overheating might be just one of those things. And so to rule this out, you have to delete the cache partition of your phone. Here’s how:

Turn off the device.Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys. When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.Your Galaxy A20 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.Press Power key to select.Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.Press the Power key to restart the device.

If your phone is still heating up fast or overheating after this, then move on to the next solution.

Fourth solution: Master reset your phone.

If you left helpless after you've done almost everything to troubleshoot your phone, bring it to the nearest service center. 😉

do you have SDCARD inserted? some cases using deffective or classA SDCARD makes your phone overheat,

or try "reset settings" in General management. avoid tapping the "reset phone" only "reset settings" then reboot device.
