When does Samsung plan to release an update for A73? The A73 needs to be updated again since it is full of bugs. I've experienced my device automatically locking the screen by itself after successfully unlocking the device usinng biometrics (fingerprint). This happened to me for several times already. The last update for my A73 was on February 2023.

If I had known that Samsung's software support for their midrange devices is this bad, I would have opted for another device from another brand. This might be the last Samsung smartphone that I will use if Samsung does not fix their support for their midrange devices.

Hello bugggyyyy,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your Samsung Galaxy A73 having issues with the locking the screen by itself after successfully unlocking it. Also, the periodic security patch updates that you've been missing to be installed on your device.

I feel and understand it, with your high expectation on your Samsung Galaxy A73's support have not been met.

Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software is updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

For the periodic Security updates, the rollouts and release times may vary depending on device version and model, service version, country or region, and network.

Add additional fingerprints.

From Settings, tap Biometrics and security, and then tap Fingerprints. Enter your secure screen lock credentials. Tap Add fingerprint. Follow the on-screen prompts, and then tap Done.

Fingerprint Troubleshooting.

  • Keep your skin and the fingerprint scanner dry when attempting to unlock your device - the scanner can't read if moisture is detected.
  • Your finger should cover the fingerprint scanner completely.
  • Make sure no case or cover is restricting access to the scanner.
  • Keep the fingerprint sensor free of dirt or debris. If the scanner gets dirty, wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth.
  • Scanning each finger at multiple angles will increase the fingerprint scanner accuracy.
  • Try removing your registered fingerprint and re-scan.

If that doesn't fix the problem, you may submit an error report through the Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Settings/System".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.

Yes, unfortunately. Samsung really does not do a good job of maintaining their A series phones. Might be the last Samsung I'll buy because of this.
